I am a crochet beginner and always will be.
As my skills grow, I’m convinced that the thrill of discovery in crochet is endless. For instance, new skills to conquer, exciting projects to dive into – no doubt, it’s a perpetual adventure.
One day a colleague, and dear friend, showed me her handmade knitted jumper, so excited and proud of herself. We both work a corporate job, mostly with our heads buried in spreadsheets and numbers, with little space for imagination.
That is why I was surprised by her “secret” crafting skills.
All of a sudden, my inner (and dormant) creativity was triggered. The idea of crafting something incredible with my own hands gave me a new purpose.
Choosing crochet was a well researched and pondered decision (I blame the corporate mindset!). To summarize, it’s budget-friendly, needs minimal supplies and it is quite versatile; there is a world of opportunity aside of blankets, tablecloths and scarves. Plus, it suits my impatience – projects get done fast.
I made my first online order of yarn and hooks in the spring of 2023, and I’ve been hooked on crochet ever since. My flat is too small to store all the yarn I buy, my laptop memory is basically overflowing with patterns, and my friends and family can’t stand hearing me talking about crochet all the time.
But hey, I am on a journey to discover, awaken and unlock my inner creativity and would not change this for the world.
